As insulting as it sounds, you'd probably make a bloody good illustrator for children's books, or something.

*sings* There's pirates on the starboard bow...s.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08838859219532123743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501525.post-1133917022715781282005-12-07T13:57:00.000+13:002005-12-07T13:57:00.000+13:00I think you might be right there on the old painte...I think you might be right there on the old painterly definition. My dictionary reckons '(of a painting) lacking clearly defined outlines', i.e. using tone to convey form as you say - definitely not using lots of paint!David Cauchihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18128116971441583803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501525.post-1133899944201536402005-12-07T09:12:00.000+13:002005-12-07T09:12:00.000+13:00I like the term line description too. Other students would think my work was painterly because I have a tendancy to use lots of paint-but that is not what painterly is about. If I recall, (it's been a good 15 years) I think a painterly style is using light and dark as a way to convey the weight and validity of your subject matter. I paint like I draw, using line as a way to convey the object. I think you do that too.
I am no good at this kind of talk really.paintergirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11773630769597376510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501525.post-1133861943096006042005-12-06T22:39:00.000+13:002005-12-06T22:39:00.000+13:00I think I've come to terms with this. Having some friends who've seen the original dismiss my concerns helped too.

I really like the term 'line description'. I don't recall coming across it before.David Cauchihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18128116971441583803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501525.post-1133812533335565302005-12-06T08:55:00.000+13:002005-12-06T08:55:00.000+13:00Your work is so refreashing.
